Who we are

Christopher Nigel Moorhouse, is the Sole Owner of Sarus Travel. Sarus Travel also trades under the following names; Sarus Bird Tours, Japanbirding.com and Kenyabirding.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect the following data for the legal basis of fulfilment of a contract.

  • Your name and contact details
  • Your date of birth
  • Additional information such as medical conditions which assist in providing assistance if necessary on tour.

We sometimes also need to collect further data for airlines, ground operators in certain countries, immigration and for processing refunds etc. These will only be collected where necessary to the fulfilment of the contract.

  • Passport details
  • Bank details

We collect the following data on our booking form on the legal basis of consent:

  • Interest in receiving details about future tours

Who we share your data with

We only share your data with our ground operators, hotels and transport operators where this is necessary to the operation of the tour. We only share the minimum amount of data necessary in each case, which will vary from country to country.

Except as above, we do not share any of your data with any other third parties, unless this is required by law or for the fulfilment of statutory obligations.

How long we retain your data

Data is only kept for as long as necessary.

Data from Booking Forms is kept for 6 years.

Data such as Passport Details and Bank Details are only kept for as long as required to book flights or carry out a necessary service, and are deleted immediately after that. The only exception to this is if they have been provided on a Booking Form, in which case they will be subject to the retention period for Booking Forms above.

Where we hold and send your data

Data is held in the UK, on password protected computers with limited access.

Data is backed up to Google Cloud Services which may be located worldwide. Details of data security for Google services can be found here: https://privacy.google.com/businesses/security

We may also share your data with our ground operators, hotels and transport operators where this is necessary to the operation of the tour in the relevant country. We only share the minimum amount of data necessary in each case, which will vary from country to country.

Your rights

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.

The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that we complete the information you believe is incomplete.

The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to object to processing – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that Our Company transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
