Apart from being home to the beautiful island views and great water activities, the Andaman Islands are also a delight for birdwatchers. Being closer to Myanmar and Thailand and Indonesia than India, the avifauna is also closely related to that of southeast Asia.
We base this tour at two bases on South Andaman, Port Blair and Chidiya Tapu, where we can find the majority of the endemics and other species which are rare in India. These include; Andaman Serpent-eagle, Andaman Crake, Brown Coucal, Andaman Scops owl, Hume's Boobook, Andaman Barn-owl, Andaman Nightjar, Andaman Woodpecker, Andaman Drongo, Andaman Treepie, Andaman Shama, Andaman Bulbul, Andaman Cuckooshrike and Andaman Flowerpecker.
Some possible species are endemic to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands; Andaman Woodpigeon, Andaman Green Pigeon, White-headed Starling and Andaman Boobook.
It is sometimes possible to arrange an optional visit to see Narcondam Hornbill, but this does require special permits and can be expensive.
